Why Choose HFF Raw Milk?

Here are 3 reasons I think you should:

Reason #1

Raised on Nature's Intended Diet

      What does this mean?

Well, to keep from getting too technical, Grass-fed is the closest term most people are familiar with.

However, we want to emphasize the ENTIRETY of a healthy cows natural diet, which includes grass, but also other plant forages, such as legumes, forbs, (broadleaved plants), and other "weeds" or plants which can actually be beneficial additions to a cow's diet.

Aside from diverse pasture forage in the growing season, during the winter we supplement with organically grown hay, as well as organic crushed peas at milking, (~5 lbs/cow/day)

Studies of the BioNutrient Foundation* have preliminary findings suggesting that one of the highest determining factors for nutrient density in Beef is the number of diverse plants the cow eats. (I'm assuming that this will hold true for milk as well)

      Reason #2

      Beyond Organic

What do we mean by this?

Organic standards are helpful, well-known, and inadequate. We hold ourselves beyond organic standards, which includes:

      • Organically Managed pastures and hay
      • Certified organic crushed peas
      • Daily moves onto fresh pasture, for health of animals and land
      • No pharmaceuticals, drugs, pesticides, etc. We use herbs and homeopathic treatments. We are legally required to use 1 vaccine, once. Vaccine FREE, other than that.
      • No chemical fertilizers on our fields, no harsh chemical cleaners with harmful residual for milk equipment.
      • Humane Animal Care including Momma + Calf relationship

      Reason #3

      Regenerative

      How can we say so?

We build soil. If the soil is healthy, plants will be too. Those plants then sustain our cattle, promoting healthy, animals, and finally, delicious, nutrient dense, healthy milk, which nourishes each of us, so we can perform our work with vitality and care.

      This is why we:

      • Move our cattle daily during the growing season
      • Feed microbial soil life by harnessing manure in the form of compost which we spread on the fields, and by rolling hay out on the fields in winter (covers the soil and encourages manure on the field rather than on concrete)
      • Refuse to use chemicals on our land which destroys soil life and function
      • Use other animal species in a cycle of natural progression for bug, weed, and parasite control. (i.e. Chickens follow the cows, eating pesky fly larvae and spreading manure pats over the fields)
      • Do not till the soil, disturbing soil structure and exposing it to sunlight
      • Make a point to minimize bare soil

Every drop of milk you consume from our cows, enables us to continue stewarding this land in a way that honors the Creators plan for health and vitality.
